2025: A 30 day project / 30 local business portraits

When?

When its best for you. Or: This Thursday & Friday & Saturday – I will drop in throughout the day.

What do you receive?

Everyone receives the best images we take on the day. Because the sessions will be very short you may receive as little as 3 images with a likely maximum of 12. …

Duration

15 – 45 minutes per photo session (& 30 to 90 minutes photo editing time for each business).

The price?

Affordable, starting from $125 in Inner Richmond. A modest, small-business-friendly fee. The goal of this project is to support small local businesses.

The Goal?

To suppoert as many businesses as I can.

Why?

To help small businesses have new images to share in their Google Maps listing, on social media or website. Both are essential for better discoverability.

And to help me return from career hyatus at age 49.5, because it feels a bit daunting to start over. This project will be mutually beneficial.

The catch?

None, you don’t even need to smile. You don’t have to show your face if you prefer not to, but it would help your potential customers feel more welcome and I would of course also love to also capture a portrait.

Who owns the images?

Good question. Usually the photographer retains full copyright of images but you can use your images freely for your marketing and make posters if you like. =)

That sounds complicated?

You can give me permission to ONLY use your images for my portfolio, that I need to build to get better paying work in the future. Or you can give me additional permission to use your images to promote myself a litle more widely: For example by sharing the best images to Social media. You can give me permission to write an article for a local newspaper about small businesses in the neighbourhood. All of these permissions are mutually beneficial, but if you choose to only give me portfolio permission then that is absolutely ok.

Don’t want to be in my portfolio but would like images taken for your business? (or personal portrait?)

No problem. You can schedule your photosession at a slightly higher rate.

Where is the sample portfolio?

It is under construction, but you can get a feeling for my past photographs here: https://over7seas.smugmug.com/

I enjoy images that feel warm and welcoming.

They aren’t yet a portfolio of what I would like to do in the future but they might give you an idea that

(More recently I took photos for the Michelin Restaurant Atelier Crenn, and they were published by a gourmet magazine: https://www.instagram.com/p/CncDm4UIO-L/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link This is not enough to build a new career on but it may indicate that I am somewhat trustworthy.)
